Ao Chalong is Phuket's official entry and exit point for yachts. The officials have offices right at the land end of this very long pier. The pier is long because the bay is very shallow. Even longtails which tie to shore are aground for hours at low tide. The pier is used mainly by dive boats picking up and dropping off passengers, supplies and rubbish. We usually anchored way out and tied our dinghy to the pier.
